Hello!

My name is Jessica Maitland.

What brought me here?

In 2017, I welcomed my son and quickly discovered how little I knew about anything to do with babies and parenting. Every healthcare provider I met seemed to provide new information that contradicted the previous one. Google was sometimes helpful, but often made things feel worse. Despite reading all the best-selling books, taking the recommended classes, and listening to all the popular influencers, I still felt utterly confused and desperately alone. As a new mother, far from home, this was not the "babymoon" I had expected.

I am forever grateful for the doula team we employed to help us transition from overwhelmed mess to confident parents. They bolstered us with their unbiased support, real experience and evidence-based knowledge. They held my baby so I could sleep a full 3 hours, whipped up simple meals to feed us, and helped us buy the right attachments for the breast pump – the one I never thought I’d use. I can't imagine what those first weeks might have looked like if our doulas hadn't been there.

As a new parent, I began to recognize the fundamental life experiences that begin with baby’s first breath. My passion for supporting children in their early school experiences evolved to wanting to support the entire family during the crucial postpartum period. Those first moments as a family, I realized, are both precious and paramount. Thus, I earned my CBS and trained as a Postpartum Doula. And I’m not stopping there. I am also steadily working towards becoming an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Like the doulas that supported me, I would like to stand by your side as you set out on your own parenting journey. Thank you for considering me as your partner in this remarkable chapter of your life.
